Jonathan C. Mattox
Attorney At Law

Jonathan Mattox grew up in Bryson City and returned to practice law in his home town after graduating from law school in 2016. Jonathan's practice focuses on transactional real estate matters, estate planning and administration, and other real estate matters such as foreclosures, partitions, and business formations.

Jonathan graduated with honors from Vermont Law School in 2016, and with honors from Appalachian State University with a B.A. in business administration in 2013. While in law school, Jonathan interned with several local North Carolina attorneys, and after obtaining his law license, he began practicing with Elizabeth Brigham at Brigham Law Office, PLLC. In 2019, the office relocated across town to its current location and became Brigham & Mattox, PLLC. After more than 30 years practicing law, Mrs. Brigham retired from practice in 2021, leaving Jonathan as a solo practitioner. However, shortly thereafter, in an effort to continue offering Ms. Brigham's estate planning and administration services, the firm hired attorney John Ingham to concentrate on such matters.

Jonathan's wife Callie is a school teacher in the community, and they are the proud parents of one daughter, Reed, who was born in 2021. Prior to law school, Jonathan worked for the National Park Service at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Jonathan is very familiar with Swain County and its history, and enjoys using his knowledge of the area to serve his clients.
